In early 2024, Queen Margrethe II made a highly respectful decision to transfer power to her son. Now, on January 14, 2024, people have taken to the streets to celebrate with the King of Denmark, Fredrik.

I was there to be a part of this celebration and had a roll of film in my analog camera. I was certain that most photographers focused on capturing images of the king and his companions, but what was important to me was the youngest generation participating with their parents – the generation that truly represents the future of Denmark.

I am always fascinated by the lovely pictures of parents who are carrying their children on their shoulders.

These photos hold special meaning for me. With great respect for King Fredrik and his mother, from my perspective, parents who have carried their children on their shoulders to broaden their views are the true kings and queens.
